What make and model is this aircraft?
Imagine postata
The material with the picture identified it as a Fw-189 but I know that is incorrect. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Swanny,
That is a Focke Wulf FW58 B "Weihe". There are a couple of kits available in 1/72.
- one by Karo As, but that is hard to find and a bit of a dog.
- one by Special Hobby, which is quite nice (I have one for trade or sale if you are intersted - PM me).
- In 1/48, there used to be a vacform kit by Karo As, but that is long out of production and a collector's item.

Thanks Radu, I was thinking it was the 58 but was not sure from the profile. I do have the old MPM 1/48 vac kit so may build that as this unit.

Hi Swanny,
You are right, it was MPM rather than Karo As.

Is not the Special Hobby one a Fw58 C ?!
If yes, how could it be transformed in a Fw58 B ?

Now my interest is really getting peaked. I've been looking at various pictures of the aircraft on the net and have found some really cool stuff but I cannot find much of anything that shows the interior of the cockpit or the bombardiers station. I want to detail these areas so if anybody can point me in the direction of some interior shots that would be appreciated. The MPM interior detail is not that great.

And for Blue Max -- MPM did the C version in 1/48 also.

Yes, the Special Hobby is a C, it comes with both solid and clear nose parts, but there is no cutout for the machine gun behind the cockpit. The RoAF used a few FW58s without rear machine gun and with either solid or glazed nose. So, a Romanian aircraft can be made from that kit with the right decals. See Modelism 1/2005.
B-0 was a light bomber
B-1 training and liaison aircraft
B-2 was a light bomber with glazed nose and machine guns
B-3 was a rescue trainer.
C-O C-1 and C2 were transporters.
To convert the Special Hobby C to a B, all that needs to be done is to cut out the opening for the machine gun in the fuselage and fit a machine gun in there. However, photos in Modelism show that the machine gun was not fitted on a number of airframes and the opening may be blanked off. Also, the machine on the cover of Modelism, "white 16" appears to have the straight back, so that can be built straight from the box.
I have the kit for sale if anyone is intersted. PM me.

From the B&W pictures " White 16" looks olive-green cammo instead of two tones green ( as in the color profile).

Drool .... right click, save ... right click, save .... wow some good stuff. Black 20 looks interesting. I would have assumed these had a standard Luftwaffe splinter scheme with Romanian markings applied but this does not seem to be the case. Any idea about the upper wing pattern on this one? I started cutting plastic on the vac kit last night and also got my hands on a resin version of the MPM kit as well. This is a pretty cool aircraft.

Hello,

As far as I saw from the photos submitted here, the "White 16" is a variant without the machinegun from the rear. So I think the the profile that Swanny put is wrong and he should not cut the plastic in that area.
I am wrong?? :hammer:
