Am trimis deja mail-ul, care zice asa:

Hello.

My name is Horia Stoica, and I’ve decided to write you as soon as I found out that in May you will launch the Fokker D VII plane model with Romanian werknummer. The matriculation of the planes received by Romania as was damages poses many problems for researchers, and this is why mistakes are prone to happen in the werknummer interpretation. I am sure that you made your research before launching this model, but in spite of all this, because I want this product to be 100% historically accurate, I want to contribute with the information I possess in regards to the planes in Romanian service.

So, the Fokkers D VII produced by M.A.G. , captured and used by romanians. We are talking about 17 planes from series 93:
93.10, 93.11, 93.12, 93.13, 93.14, 93.15, 93.16, 93.17, 93.18, 93.19, 93.20, 93.21, 93.22, 93.23, 93.24, 93.25, 93.26. These serial numbers were painted on the plane’s sides, as yo can see in the attached images.

Also 8 two seat Fokkers DVII were captured:
HD.01, HD.04, HD.05, HD.06, HD.07, HD.08, HD.09, HD.10.

As a side note, we also are the editors of a modelism and military history magazine, called MODEL IST, whose purpose is to promote military history and particularly the Romanian Air Force. At the end of 2009 we managed to launch the monography of the IAR-Potez 25 plane in a bilingual (Romanian-English book).

We own a collection of about 2000 original fotos with the Romanian Air Force, and this is why, whenever you want to launch a new product who has strong ties with the Romanian Air Force, we will be more than happy to help you with original images.

With the hope that our message is of any help to you, we wish you godspeed in 2010, and we await more models with Romanian werknummers with the greatest of interest.

aici nu e vorba cumva de acel bombardier austriac doborat de AA romana prin 1919, in timp ce ducea o gramada de bani pentru banca nationala a Ucrainei, iar o elice inca se mai pastreaza la muzeul national din Buc.?

Nu. avionul ducea armament , bani, aur in Ucraina pentru a sustine lupta impotriva bolsevicilor.Venea din Germania si era al companiei DLR Deutsche Luft-Reederei.( vezi in poza din mijloc sigla DLR vopsit alaturi de stema ucraineana) Avionul nu a fost doborat, a aterizat fortat avand ceva probleme. Romanii au luat toata inacrcatura si au dat-o Ucrainienilor fiind si ei interesati de sustinere luptei antibolsevice, mai ales in 1919 dupa ce Romania ocupase Ungaria si in nordul tarii de-a lungul frontierei se dadeau lupte contra bandelor de bolsevici. Dupa esuarea sustinerii Ucrainienilor de catre mai multe state din Europa interesate de oprirea expansiunii bolsevice, guvernul Ucrainean (guvern provizoriu nerecunoscut de nimeni) a cedat tot armamentul Romaniei pentru a nu cadea in mainile rusilor. Astefel au ajuns in romania avioane, pusti, etc etc.
Avionul a fost adus la Bucuresti in zbor, insa pe traseu a fost nevoit sa aterizeze de 2-3 ori fiindca nu au folosit benzina corespunzatoare si avea probleme de functionare.

Am primit raspuns de la Eduard, 2 mailuri. Haideti sa facem tot posibilul si sa-i ajutam, este si in interesul nostru. daca exista ceva poze sau informatii, orice astept un raspuns de la voi sa le pot raspunde.

Thank you very much for your e-mail, it is coming in really right time! We are in final approach to release or Fokker D.VII MÁG, the release time is April this year.



Until now, our plan was to have two Romanian MÁGs in our marking options, as we have a documentation for two aircraft. However, when we will have more info, we will be glad to add more planes! Also, the painting instruction has to be done more complexly with widely described history of the aircraft, so if you can help us with history of the MÁGs in Romanian Air Force, it will be highly appreciated.



I have passed your letter to our WWI specialist, Mr.Marek Mincberger, who is preparing the painting instruction, the text for it and also the guide for the decal designer and artist. He will communicate with you concerning the technical and historical matter.

Dear Stoica,

thank you very much for your message concerning the Fokker D.VII MAG. As a person responsible for camouflage and marking preparation for this project I have found your mail very, very interesting. As a Czech company we are of course highly focused on the one and only Czech MAG - 38.67, which we have quite well covered. Further on we have some references for red Hungarian Fokkers. But for the Romanian, it is a different cup of tea. We have just three photos, which are attached. Nothing more - no more photo, no more info. So we would highly welcome anything.

Due to the construction of the model we are highly interested into the crates with covers on wheel spokes, but it is not limited to this. So, from this point of view the 93.18 could be the crate we we would mainly focus on. But not only this one.

If I could, I would have some questions:
- I assume, that the planes has been covered with clear doped linen. Am I correct?
- The white fields (ex-Hungarian) under the Romanian cockades were common issue or were they limited just to few planes and thers were not wearing them?
- Do you have an information about the crash of the 93.16?
- If the guns were installed, were they the original Shwarzelose or were they replaced by others? Vickers for example? But as it looks on the photo, no guns were installed at all...
- For the text part of the instruction guide we would welcome any information about the operational history of the MAGs, so if you could provide us any information about "your" Fokkers, we would welcome it. For example, how your army got them, when, where and by what unit were they than used, until when, etc. Generally, we know nothing. The only known here is that during the war with Red Hungarians, one MAG had been shot-up by Czechoslovakian ground fire, but the plane landed behind the Romanian front. But we have no confirmation from other sources.
- Would it be possible to provide us it some more photos, if available? As I have already mentioned, we are highly focused on 93.16 and 16, but we would welcome any.
- If you would be so glad to provide any photo, could we publish them in the instruction guide. With your full credit, of course?

Horia, nu cred sa aflii prea multe info pt. ei de pe forum, dar nu se stie.
Poate Valeriu Avram sa aiba cunostiinte in sensul asta, dar stiu ca e greu de contactat.

Hello, I apologize for being late with my answer, but I have had to conduct some small research, the result is not concludent, but we can hint to some answers in regards to the plane’s uses.



The Fokker D VII planes used by the Romanian army were captured, not received as war reparations. At the moment of their capture, most of them were heavily used, so some of them needed repairs. These repairs may have been conducted in Arad, because while Arad was a part of the AH empire they were building plane engines, licensed Benz cars, and some sources indicate even planes being built there.



The first Romanian pilot to fly such a plane was slt Nicolae Cicei. He was part of the N7 Squadron and a Fokker DVII pilot. He was credited with 2 air victories: one in December 1917 and a Fokker downed in Hungary.



As per the weapons, I found nowhere info in regards to their armament at the moment of capture, but we do know that these planes were used against Bolsheviks in Bukowina (South Ukraine) and Bessarabia. We have no clue of the weapons.



The last time when these planes were mentioned in documents was 1920. Being heavily used at the moment of capture, the Army renounced them.



The series of the Romanian Fokker D VII are:

93 Series:
93.10, 93.11, 93.12, 93.13, 93.14, 93.15, 93.16, 93.17, 93.18, 93.19, 93.20, 93.21, 93.22, 93.23, 93.24, 93.25, 93.26.



Fokker DVII MAG two-seat:



H-10, H-9, H-8 (19747), H-7(19476), H-6 ( 19745), H-5 (19744) H-4 (19742), H-1( 19630).
